Introduction to Routing
Tai Lam Country Park and Tai Lam Chung Reservoir Hike
After alighting bus at Tai Tong Road Bus Terminus, follow the water diversion channel to So Kwun Wat. You will first arrive at the long-established traditional Hakka farm “Yeung Ka Tsuen”, then continue onwards to find the two rain-washed deep gullies, which senior hikers called “Fairy Rut”. Upon reaching Wong Nai Tun Reservoir, take the forest trail into the Tai Lam Chung Reservoir, which is known as the “Thousand Island Lake” of Hong Kong. Numerous small islands are scattered in the reservoir, tranquil and beautiful. Follow the 10th section of the MacLehose Trail towards the So Kwun Wat Bus Stop to end the journey. Note: Sections of this trail are ups and downs with gravels in between, thus requiring a certain degree of physical fitness.
